On Day 3 of the 2nd test match
between Australia and India, the Australian cricket team responded positively
to the start made by India on Day 1 & 2. Perhaps the highlight of the day
was the century made by newly appointed captain Steve Smith (133), who combined
with Mitchell Johnson (88) to turn the match back in Australia’s favour. Chasing
India’s first innings total of 408, the Australians were all out for 505, while
the end of day’s play saw India navigate their way to 1/71 at stumps.
In other cricketing news, the 2nd match of Big Bash League 4 saw the Sydney Sixers chase down the Melbourne Renegades total of 154. The star of the show was young gun Nic Maddinson who made a match-winning 84 runs of 54 balls.
And in NHL news, the Panthers, Hurricanes,
Ducks, Sharks, Penguins, Capitals and Kings all got wins last night. The
Panthers and Capitals will be especially glad with their win, after participating
in a record shootout a few days ago. That shootout went for 20 rounds and
seriously tested the nerves of their fans.
